Setting up your game room - space for a pool table and other recreation
It’s an easy and fun process to look at an empty room and visualize what might go into it. Why not a game room? If you have empty space in your place, and looking to fill it with something that you’ll actually use, picking up a table game will be great for family nights as well as when you have guests over. Here are some things you’ll want to consider when you start creating your gameroom
Start with choosing the right game for your space
Choosing the game can be difficult - there are so many options to choose from! There are the popular games that everyone enjoys, like pool (billiards) or air hockey, and then there are the ones you might have to explain to your guests. Whether it’s the classic game night, or you want to have a new experience to share with friends, is up to you.
The game you select also depends on the space you have (or trying to use). If you have a long and skinny space, it might be best to have a shuffle board table. If you have a large open space, a pool table would probably best suit your space. If you have a lot of room, but it’s not entirely open, maybe you tag two games in the same room to mix it up for you and your guests! Going from foosball to air hockey to darts keeps the party going all night.
Room Size
Use this chart below to see the size needed for the particular pool table you need.
Seven foot table: 3.5’ x 7’
A - 11' x 14'
B - 12' x 15'
C - 13' x 16'
Eight foot table: 4’ x 8’
A - 12' x 15'
B - 12' x 16'
C - 13' x 17'
Nine foot table: 4.5’ x 9’
A - 12' x 16'
B - 13' x 17'
C - 14’ x 18’
An eight foot table is “professional” size, where 7 foot table is often called “bar size”. 9 foot tables are for large rooms to fill extra space and add a little more challenge.
Set up the rest of the room
It might be a good idea to do some research on what you want the whole room to look like. Pinterest and Google images is a great place to start. Completing an entire room to cater to the games being played is a great way to be more involved there! Invite some friends for some cards at the poker table, with some great game room decor around to tie everything together. The best games tables have lots of options and keeps people entertained all night, so add some flair with wall hangings, lighting, and a few different games. Another great addition is to add some unique board games. We offer handmade board games, some familiar like Euchre and Cribbage, while some are unique international games like Surakarta.
